Okay, so I stumbled across this weird little game called "Hide and Luig" last weekend when I was supposed to be doing laundry (procrastination for the win!), and I just had to tell someone about it. It's this oddball point-and-click puzzle game starring a goofy painted character named Lucy who's apparently OBSESSED with hide and seek.
The premise is super simple but weirdly addictive? Lucy challenges you to find him in three totally random locations - a street toilet (yep, you read that right), inside a massive robot, and a castle where some princess is being held captive by trolls. I mean, who comes up with this stuff? ?
What really hooked me wasn't the bizarre settings but the puzzles themselves. You've gotta collect random objects and figure out where to use them - classic point-and-click style. Some solutions made me feel like a genius, while others had me facepalming so hard I nearly gave myself a concussion. There was this one puzzle in the robot level where I literally spent 20 minutes trying to use a wrench on EVERYTHING before realizing I needed to combine it with something else first. Classic me.
The art style is super charming in that deliberately crude, hand-drawn way that gives the game tons of personality. It reminds me of those weird Flash games I used to play on my family's computer back in the day when I was supposed to be doing homework. Remember those days? The nostalgia is REAL.
What I appreciate most is that you can tackle the levels in any order. Got stuck in the castle? No problem! Head over to the toilet level instead (never thought I'd type that sentence). Each area has its own wacky logic and ridiculous situations that somehow make perfect sense within the game's bonkers universe.
Fair warning though - it's not a long game. You can probably finish it in an afternoon if you're better at puzzles than I am (which isn't saying much, tbh). But for a free little time-waster, Hide and Luig delivers more laughs and genuine "aha!" moments than games I've paid good money for.
If you're into quirky puzzle games with weird humor and don't mind some toilet-based challenges, definitely give this one a go. Just maybe don't play it while eating lunch. Trust me on that one.
